RESCHEDULED
This event was previously cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic and has now been rescheduled for 6 June 2021.
Join us for an evening of music composed by the prolific classical composer and his Romantic era successors.
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra join forces with pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason, violinist Eldbjørg Hemsing and organist Peter Holder – all brought together under the baton of young German conductor Moritz Gnann.
One of the last works composed during his middle period, Beethoven’s Egmont Overture draws upon elements from his early years while at the same time looking forward to the future. The tone is initially sombre and austere, eventually giving way to a thrilling, climactic finale.
Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3, on the other hand, is notable for its beauty and elegance – aspects that would become characteristic of the Romantic era which he helped usher in, paving the way for two other composers on tonight’s programme: Mendelssohn and Saint-Saëns.
This concert is one of the headline events of Love Classical, at the Royal Albert Hall, the home of classical music.
