Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Loudon Wainwright III will deliver an exclusive set from his home as part of the Royal Albert Home sessions.

In these strange times, closing the Hall’s doors is the best way to look after the world, but we are now opening a (virtual) window for you to experience some of the most talented artists around.

The American folk artist, humorist and actor has released 24 studio albums, 4 live albums and 6 compilations, as well as appearing in at least 18 television programmes and feature films to date. His many albums include High, Wide, and Handsome, I’m Alright, More Love Songs, and History. As an actor he has appeared in movies directed by Judd Apatow, Martin Scorsese, Tim Burton, Cameron Crowe and Hal Ashby, and he has starred in the television shows Undeclared and M.A.S.H. Loudon also recently announced a new album, I’d Rather Lead A Band, due to be released on 9 October. A collaboration with Vince Giordano and his band The Nighthawks (who were featured on Boardwalk Empire), the 14-song collection is a loose, fresh, and “anti-nostalgic” take on classic songs from the 1920s and 30s featuring Loudon as singer and band leader.

In 2015, both he and Yusuf Islam/Cat Stevens received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Two of his children, Rufus and Martha Wainwright, both previously performed as part of our series of online performance. We are delighted to welcome Loudon to the Royal Albert Home family as well with The Special Relationship, a unique show created especially for this exclusive session.

Royal Albert Home

As artists generously share their work with you, we ask that you generously support us so that the Royal Albert Hall can come back strong when we reopen our doors to the world.

If you can donate a fraction of the price of a ticket to see one of these artists live, you will be supporting the Hall for a brighter future.
