Details
Our intimate Late Night Jazz series presents sensational music in the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room.
The Michele Drees Jazz Tap Project is a spectacular mix of rhythm, tap dance and jazz. This project works towards helping the revival of the iconic ‘jazz tap’ that originated in Harlem, and then became popularised on Hollywood’s silver screen.
London-based Michele Drees is an established drummer, Latin percussionist, vocalist, guitarist and composer. She has been active on the music scene for over 30 years, and during this time she has played with artists including Marc Almond, Kirsty MacColl, Ive Mendes, KD Lang, Badmarsh and Shri and Susanne Vega to name a few.
Michele will be joined on stage by Scott Cripps, one the UK’s foremost tappers and Lisa LaTouche, a New York-based tap dancer and choreographer recently seen in Shuffle Along on Broadway and Savion Glover’s Stepz.
This concert is sponsored by SlimWinter, and dedicated to the great Bob Armstrong, Michele’s drum teacher.
