Georgia Mann presents informal late-night music and poetry featuring emerging UK talent. With music from the Nérija and poetry from Chrissy Williams.
Blending jazz, afrobeat and hip hop, Nérija are a cutting-edge musical collective from London, consisting of Sheila Maurice-Grey on trumpet, Rosie Turton on trombone, Cassie Kinoshi on alto sax, Nubya Garcia on tenor sax, Shirley Tetteh on guitar, Inga Eichler on double bass and Lizy Exell on drums.
The group have been nominated for this year’s Jazz FM’s Breakthrough Act of the Year Award, and have performed at festivals including Latitude, Love Supreme, Brainchild, Manchester Jazz Festival and The Great Escape. Their eagerly anticipated debut EP comes out later in the year.
Chrissy Williams is a poet, editor and tutor living in London. She is also director of the annual Free Verse: Poetry Book Fair, and has published a range of poetry pamphlets and criticism. Her first collection BEAR will be published in May 2017.
