Today, we turn 150 years old. And just like a number of you, this is the second birthday we’ve had to celebrate differently. It’s not exactly how we envisioned celebrating this milestone anniversary – on our own, without you there with us.
But as we prepare to welcome you back, we thought we’d mark the occasion by celebrating the people behind the scenes who’ve been working behind closed doors this whole time, keeping an eye on the Royal Albert Hall and making sure that your room will be ready for your return.
Stage Door welcome staff, contractors and artists – they most definitely deserve cake
Archive Manager Liz takes the Hall’s birthday trumpet out of storage – it was first played in 1871 for our official opening
Jeannette and Tommy from security having some cake in between rounds
Duty Manager Kathy walks around the Hall making sure everything goes smoothly
It wouldn’t be a birthday without some presents: Amy and Ruth from our retail team pack up orders with products from our exclusive 150th-anniversary range

9 ways you can support us
This extended closure has put the Royal Albert Hall, like many other venues, in a perilous situation.
Without shows on we have lost our major source of funding, but there remains a number of ways you can continue to support the Royal Albert Hall during this crisis:
