Coming to a show between Tuesday 20 November and Thursday 3 January 2019? Don’t miss Hallmark’s Christmas Card Exhibition, celebrating 175 years since the first Christmas card. Head to the Ground Floor Corridor to feel the festivities.
The first ever Christmas card was championed in 1843 by one of the Hall’s founders Sir Henry J. Cole. To mark the special anniversary we have partnered up with Hallmark to create a special festive exhibition.
The exhibition will be on display on the Ground Floor Corridor, and can be viewed when attending a performance here between Tuesday 20 November and Thursday 3 January 2019.
The exhibition consists of 26 stretch canvases, telling the story of where Hallmark began in 1910, through to today, outlining how their designs were inspired and influenced by art throughout the decades.
Each canvas reflects the heritage and longevity of the Hallmark brand, featuring cards from every decade, from 1910 including the Art Deco looks of the 1920s through to the modern trends of today.
To mark the special anniversary, Hallmark designers have also created a bespoke Christmas card featuring the Royal Albert Hall. The design is displayed as part of the exhibition and will be available to purchase from our shop located at Door 12, with all proceeds going to the Royal Albert Hall charity.
