BBC Proms is back! On 14 July, the first night of the 123rd BBC Proms season raises the curtain on another diverse and exciting summer of music. Over 8 weeks there are over 90 concerts taking place around the country, as part of the world’s largest classical music festival, including 75 Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.

FRIDAY 14 JUNE, 7:30pm

OPENING NIGHT: First Night of the Proms

The 2017 BBC Proms opens with a dance and a shout, featuring a world premiere, a piece celebrating the 70th birthday of popular American composer John Adams, and a performance of Beethoven’s groundbreaking Third Piano Concerto from award-winning pianist Igor Levit – this is your perfect start to a BBC Proms summer.

Whether you’re soaking up the festive feeling in the Hall, joining the eager fans in the first Promming queue of the year, or settling in to watch at home, the atmosphere of the First Night of the Proms is irresistible!

PURE CLASSICAL: Daniel Barenboim and the Staatskapelle Berlin

A perennial favourite of the BBC Proms, Daniel Barenboim is back with the legendary Staatskapelle Berlin, in a concert starring Elgar’s Symphony No. 2.

THURSDAY 20 JULY, 7:30pm

FOR MOVIE FANS: Celebrating John Williams

Enjoy a cinematic introduction to orchestral music via John Williams’ best-loved and most well-known scores, in a BBC Proms marking his 85th birthday.

Featuring excerpts from the composer’s best-loved scores, as well as some lesser-known gems, this is sure to be a popular concert!

HEAD OUT OF LONDON: Proms at… Stage@TheDock, Hull

BBC Proms will be leaving London for the first time since the 1930s, to present three special concerts in Hull – the new UK City of Culture 2017!

Hull’s outdoor amphitheatre, Stage@TheDock, will be filled with a programme of music inspired by water, centring on Handel’s Water Music suites and covering everything from storms and shipwrecks, to calm seas and seductive sirens.
