The Olivier Awards, the biggest night in the theatre calendar, made their debut at the Royal Albert Hall for the first time, on Sunday 9 April 2017! For this glitzy ceremony, the Hall was polished and spruced inside and out, with the Hall’s South Steps laid with rich red carpet.

Before the ceremony, this year’s presenters, performers, and nominees, as well as some of the West End’s biggest stars took to the red carpet in the glorious sunshine. Take a look:

Although 2017 marked the first time the Olivier Awards have been hosted at the Royal Albert Hall, the building itself has a fascinating historic connection with the history of theatre and musicals.

Watch what happened when we gave the Oliviers a history of theatre tour around the building before the ceremony.
