Multi-instrumentalist, musician and BAFTA-winning composer, Yann Tiersen brings his acclaimed solo show to the Royal Albert Hall.
Tiersen’s enchanting compositions defy genre – demonstrating elements of classical, rock and ambient styles, among many others. He has released a slew of critically acclaimed albums and, earlier in 2016, released EUSA – his first ever album of solo piano music.
This mesmerising collection of music is inspired by the French composer’s home island Ushant (‘Eusa’ in the local Breton language), located in the Celtic sea between Brittany and Cornwall – each piece, inspired by a different spot on the island.
‘it’s on the piano solos that you notice Tiersen’s devastatingly effective way with a melody, playing tunes… that don’t sound as if they were composed, more that they had always existed and have only just been unearthed’
‘innovative, constantly shifting and seeking to build on that landscape he evokes with each note.’
