Taking inspiration from the transformative counterculture era, students from University of the Arts London – our next generation of culture makers – will offer an international perspective in shifting cultural norms in Under the Counter – a unique promenade performance. Come and journey around the Royal Albert Hall’s more unusual and often unseen spaces for a mix of live experiences and presentations that feature installation, theatre, music and much more.
From Ginsberg’s historic appearance at The International Poetry Incarnation in 1965 to legendary performances from the likes of the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, the Royal Albert Hall took centre stage during the growth of the British counterculture movement. In 2017 the Hall will be curating the Summer of Love festival – a themed season celebrating the birth of British counterculture in the late 1960s.
