After an unparalleled career as one of the world’s leading classical ballet dancers, superstar Carlos Acosta prepares to retire his ballet shoes with a spectacular farewell performance at the Royal Albert Hall.

For this very special programme, Carlos will perform extensively throughout the evening in some of his favourites from the classical ballet repertoire including Kenneth MacMillan’s Winter Dreams, Mayerling and Requiem, George Balanchine’s Apollo, Marius Petipa’s Don Quixote and Memoria by Rambert’s Miguel Altunaga.

Carlos will be joined on stage by some of his closest contemporaries from The Royal Ballet including Yuhui Choe, Ryoichi Hirano, Sarah Lamb, Laura Morera, Marianela Nuñez and Valentino Zuchetti alongside Cuban dancers Gabriela Lugo and Luis Valle. They will perform an extract from Balanchine’s Rubies, an extract from Frederick Ashton’s Rhapsody, Michel Fokine’s Scheherazade and Dying Swan, as well as Raul Reinoso’s Anadromous.

The programme will be accompanied by a live orchestra conducted by Paul Murphy, and feature the Pegasus Choir, one of London’s most accomplished chamber choirs.

‘Charismatic Acosta is one of the very best dancers of his generation. He only has to stand still on stage and all eyes are drawn to him’
