Tours of the Royal Albert Hall

Front of house tour

Grand Tour

Take a tour of the Royal Albert Hall and experience the excitement inside one of the most famous entertainment venues in the world as it prepares for the evening's performance. Our engaging guides will take you on a journey through this iconic building, bringing to life its fascinating history and sharing some of its secrets. This is a one-hour tour covering all Front of House areas including the stunning auditorium, the Gallery and the Queen's private suites, the Royal Retiring Room.

History of the Proms tour

During the BBC Proms season (Friday 18 July – Saturday 13 September), celebrate the history of the world’s largest classical music festival on a History of the Proms tour.

Which pianist played a Prom 27 years after his death? How did an audience member save André Previn’s Carmina Burana? And just what is the most performed piece of music at the Proms? The answers to these questions and more are revealed in this unique tour through the history of the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall. As well as learning about the historic background to the celebrated annual concerts programme, there will be a chance to see where the magic happens, as the tour climaxes in the Hall’s famous auditorium – with its 9,999-pipe organ – which has housed the Proms since 1941.

All tours are conducted in English. Each tour is subject to availability and limited to 20 people. Groups of 15 or more may book a private group tour. You can find out more about group tours here. Booking in advance is strongly recommended.

Please note that under 5s are not permitted on tours during the BBC Proms season, which runs from mid-July to mid-September.

Please select your tour date in the calendar.
