RECENT EVENTS - Dayglo - National Science and Engineering Week

Tuesday 13 March - Thursday 15 March 2012

Dayglo-main

Royal Albert Hall Education in partnership with Y Touring Theatre Company are staging the play, Dayglo, as part of National Science & Engineering Week.

After winning the runners-up prize for last year’s National Science and Engineering Week Best Project Awards, Y Touring Theatre Company return to the Hall with another exciting Theatre of Debate production.

Dayglo is written by Abi Bown and aims to explore the issues raised by advances in pharmacogenetics and genetic testing and screening in relation to sickle cell disease and breast cancer. The play is suitable for students at Key Stage 4 and above.

Each performance will be followed by a live debate with a guest expert in which students will be encouraged to explore what they think and feel about the issues posed by the play. Electronic voting technology will be used to register the audience's views. Preparatory and follow up lessons will be available for delivery on classroom whiteboards.

"The play was amazing. I think you handled an extremely difficult subject in a very sensitive and interesting manner... really well aimed at the young people and the discussion was pitched at totally the right level." Carly Tibbins, Birmingham Children's Hospital.
