Welcome to Showtime. We are delighted to be launching this brand new resource for Key Stages 3 and 4.
Responding to the changes in the national curriculum, the Royal Albert Hall has created a resource that delivers a fully interactive programme of tasks and activities for students and teachers. As well as covering the English, Maths and ICT curriculum it also delivers Functional Skills requirements all set in the context of the work of the Royal Albert Hall.
The aim of Showtime is to create a resource that has been developed to attract entertain and educate young people through an engaging medium. Our belief is that the best way to educate young people is to capture their imagination and motivate them and to this end Showtime has been developed by Educators and Arts Professionals to make learning more exciting and to increase participation and achievement.
Please note that there are two versions of Showtime one that is suitable for use on PCs and one that is suitable for use on Macs.
We are also very grateful to Garfield Weston Foundation for their support of Showtime.
How does it work?
Students will have the opportunity of meeting people from across the Hall including marketing, Box Office, Programming, IT, Lighting, Sound. Showtime also includes a section on costume and make-up.
Showtime includes a series of video clips featuring members of the Hall’s team going about their jobs and then asks students to complete a series of tasks to help the staff carry out various aspects of their work.
Each video features people who actually work at the Hall. They show how we use elements of all three curriculum areas in the context of our job at the Hall, and how what is learned in the classroom is actually applied in the workplace.
What is included?
Each curriculum area includes approximately 30 hours of teaching time, each topic is accompanied by teachers' notes and a table to show how each task is related to specific curriculum objectives in English, Maths & ICT as well as delivering on the Functional Skills agenda.
