Royal Albert Hall voted Superbrand - Leading Leisure and Entertainment Destination for the fifth year

The Royal Albert Hall has climbed six places on the annual UK Consumer Superbrand list to come twelfth in the 2011/12 survey, the Hall’s highest position to date. Placed in the company of Google, Mercedes-Benz and the BBC, this result follows an independent survey of over 2,000 British Consumers and is an influential barometer of brand strength in the UK, judging brands on their quality, reliability and distinction.

The Royal Albert Hall also retained its leading position in the Leisure and Entertainment Destination category for the fifth year running, placed above Tate, Madame Tussauds and The O2.
The Royal Albert Hall’s place in the history of performance, of all genres, is unrivalled. From Wagner, Verdi and Elgar conducting UK premieres of their own works, through to concerts by the Beatles, Frank Sinatra and The Who, Jay Z, Jessie J and Adele, the Royal Albert Hall has been the world’s most famous stage for over 140 years. In recent years, the Hall has seen a significant expansion and development of its artistic programming and today over 370 events are held in the Hall's auditorium each year with a further 150 in its smaller-scale performance spaces, the Elgar Room and Café Consort.

Opened in 1871 as part of Prince Albert’s vision for a centre for the Arts and Sciences, and a registered charity operating without public funding, the Hall remains true to his founding ambitions within a modern context. The continuing success of the Hall in the Superbrands list is testimony to the longevity and iconic status of the venue, and the ability of this heritage brand to remain relevant to audiences today.

Superbrands

The annual Superbrands survey has become a key barometer on the strength of brands across a wide variety of sectors. The selection process was independently administered by The Centre for Brand Analysis (TCBA) on behalf of the Superbrands organisation. The UK's 'Superbrands' are chosen by the British public in a national survey of over 2000 adults. Brands do not pay or apply to be considered. The public vote is the culmination of an independent selection process which considers thousands of brands from over 50 sectors.

Royal Albert Hall

The Royal Albert Hall is the world’s most famous stage. Its breathtaking auditorium hosts over 370 shows a year by the world’s greatest artists. The magical atmosphere combined with inspired artists creates legendary events.  Opened in 1871 as part of Prince Albert’s vision for a centre for the Arts and Sciences, and a registered charity operating without public funding, it remains true to his founding ambitions within a modern context.

Extending the brand with over 120 events outside the auditorium, the Hall has broadened its appeal to younger, diverse audiences whilst still engaging its existing customers. It also works extensively with schools and young people through its Education programme, reaching over 30,000 participants each year.
