    Her Majesty The Queen officially opens the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Steps at the Royal Albert Hall

    Today, Her Majesty The Queen, accompanied by His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, attended a short ceremony to officially recognise the renaming of the Royal Albert Hall’s South Steps to The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Steps, before her attendance at the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance.

    Raymond Gubbay and the Royal Albert Hall present La Bohème

    LA BOHÈME, Giacomo Puccini’s masterpiece of doomed love and tragic passion will play fourteen performances at the Royal Albert Hall, beginning on 27 February 2014. Francesca Zambello will direct, reviving her hugely successful 2004 production.

    The Royal Albert Hall announces an enthralling autumn line-up of performers for its More at The Hall series

    The Royal Albert Hall forges ahead with its mission to increase access to the arts with the announcement of its diverse autumn/winter season of the More At The Hall programme. The Hall continues to offer an array of reasonably priced events in its various non-auditorium spaces and will host many one-off performances, including those from both the London Jazz and Bluesfest Festivals, as well as its regular comedy, Late Night Jazz, Classical Coffee Morning and ignite series.

    Nicola Benedetti joins Royal Albert Hall for string of music workshops

    Classical Brit award-winner Nicola Benedetti is teaming up with the Royal Albert Hall to host three days of music workshops for over 150 talented students. The workshops, which will be from 19th to the 21st September, come ahead of the violinist’s concert on the main stage of the Hall on September 25 and are part of the venue’s wider education remit to promote the appreciation and the understanding of the arts.

Now London’s Royal Albert Hall will be hosting the UK premiere of director J.J Abrams predecessor, 2009’s $385million blockbuster smash Star Trek, live in concert on 29 May 2014, celebrating the extraordinary collaboration between Michael Giacchino’s score and J.J Abrams’ visionary original motion picture.

    Royal Albert Hall presents Reflect: Tom Oxley - Face to Face: The Moving Portrait

    As part of the Hall’s free reflect exhibition series and for one night only, Tom Oxley will be presenting his latest exhibition on the gallery walls of the Royal Albert Hall, Face to Face: The Moving Portrait. These will be three-minute high definition video portraits, 16ft in height, projected onto the Royal Albert Hall’s gallery walls, overlooking the main auditorium, and will be the first time that an exhibition has been displayed at the Royal Albert Hall in this way.

    Opening day of booking for 2013 BBC Proms beats record with over 114,000 tickets sold

    Booking for the BBC Proms 2013 opened at 9am this morning (Saturday 11 May) and a record of over 114,000 tickets were sold in the first 12 hours. This is a 17% increase on last year, when over 97,000 tickets were purchased during the equivalent period.

    Royal Albert Hall partners with Y Touring to engage GCSE students in science to coincide with Brain Awareness Week

    As part of its ongoing commitment to education in the arts and sciences, the Royal Albert Hall is partnering with the Y Touring Theatre Company next month to stage the play Stunted Trees and Broken Bridges. The play, designed for GCSE pupils to complement the curriculum, will engage students in an informed debate about the ethical, social and legal issues arising from the development and impact of ‘novel neurotechnologies’- the use of technologies and devices that intervene in the brain to help treat diseases such as stroke, dementia, obesity and depression.

    The Royal Albert Hall today has announced a collaboration with award winning guitar band Foals where together they will host a set of education initiatives as part of the venue’s wide education programme. Foals will host a music workshop and an education press conference. In addition Peter Mensch – who founded the band’s management company - will host a careers talk. The events come ahead of the band’s two gigs at the Hall on 28th March.
