On Monday 8 February, Ronu Majumdar, one of India’s foremost exponents of
the bansuri, or bamboo flute, will be joined by Nathan ‘Flutebox’ Lee in a thrilling,
collaborative performance of classical and contemporary flutes. Presented by
the Royal Albert Hall and Asian Music Circuit and with a cabaret style setting, this
one- off performance, ‘Flute Encounters: Bansuri to Beatbox with Ronu Majumdar
and Nathan ‘Flutebox’ Lee’, is yet another piece of imaginative programming
staged in the Elgar Room, the exciting new, state-of-the art performance space
at the Royal Albert Hall.

This exhibition covers 50 years of popular music photography. Through black & white
and colour images largely printed direct from the original negative or transparency, this
exhibition has an emphasis on the fabulous 60s & 70s eras, but does include some of
his most recent work. The exhibition can be viewed during one of three free open days
throughout December and January or when attending Royal Albert Hall performances.

The Royal Albert Hall is delighted to announce that Daniel Hope, the
celebrated British violinist, will perform the very first classical concert in
the Elgar Room, the Hall's brand new performance space, on January
18. The concert, 'A Ba-ROCK Explosion', will be 'all-standing' as part of
the Elgar Room's mission to present music and the performing arts in
new and exciting ways.

The Royal Albert Hall presents the first gig of the next hush series, which will take place in the brand new and transformed Elgar Room on Thursday 22 October. hush has partnered with Music Week's UNEARTHED brand for the first event in the new series to bring punters some of the hottest up and coming UK talent around. The hotly tipped Alan Pownall will be headlining along with support from up and coming talent Jonathan Jeremiah, nineteenyear- old singer songwriter and pianist Jose Vanders and acoustic soul and blues singer Liam Bailey.

series in the transformed space which will be launched by Edinburgh Festival favourite Patrick Monahan.

On Wednesday 14 October the Royal Albert Hall will open the doors to a new venue, the transformed Elgar Room. Steeped in history, having seen actors such as Dame Judi Dench and Sir Laurence Olivier perform, the room will change in both space and capacity as state of the art technical specifications and a modern redesign help make it one of London’s premier entertainment spaces.
