Celebrating Remembrance explores the consequences and realities of war and students will have the opportunity to meet the Chelsea Pensioners and visit the National Army Museum.
This project was open to all primary and secondary schools and Home Educators.
We offered schools and Home Educators the opportunity to join us on a day trip to Ypres which this year took place prior to the start of term on Friday 3rd September. This excursion was an enormous success and both teachers and Home Educators gave very positive feedback. There was a second INSET which took place on Tuesday 14 September at the National Army Museum.
Many teachers choose to run this project as a joint History and Art project although I must stress that the resulting exhibition is art based and past participants have submitted work using photography, collage, textiles and clay in addition to paint, pastels and chalks. We also have a limited number of display cabinets and can incorporate some 3D work.
Extracts from a film produced by students from Robert Bruce Middle School, Bedfordshire
Two schools chose to make films in addition to their art work and we have put extracts of these up on this page.
