Meet our People
The Hall is a great place to work. Some of our people share their experiences about what they enjoy.

Fran
Part-time Box Office Assistant
I first joined the Hall as a full timer after graduating. When I returned to studying, I came back part-time as the job is great in helping me to balance my study and work. I really like the mix of working in the phone room and the face-to-face contact with customers on the counter. Our customers are generally very enthusiastic about the events we have here as there is such a variety, so you get to meet many different people who come to the Hall.
I've learnt a lot of admin and systems skills and quite a bit of multi-tasking. It's exciting to be part of a fast-paced environment; you feel involved. However small your contribution, it goes some way towards the events that we host. Everyone is impressed when I say that I work here; the next question is 'can you get tickets?' – well, yes, if you purchase them!! The Box Office department is a very supportive team, we help each other out, and it's quite sociable. It's such an enjoyable place to work that I had to come back!

Daryl
Tours and Retail Manager
I was looking to move on from the travel industry a few years ago when I saw the vacancy for a Tours and Retail Manager at the Hall. I wanted an opportunity to use the skills I had gained in my career and combine them with something which I am passionate about as performing arts feature strongly in my social life too.
I am lucky that really I have two jobs with both Tours and Retail to look after – in fact it's three jobs if you include the Duty Manager shifts I do as well! It's a chance to be engaged with something different on a daily basis and have a different focus. I'll interact with members of the public a lot in my role and you never know what issues might come your way so it's good that I enjoy thinking on my feet.
Approximately 22,000 people will go on a tour of the Hall in a year, and the shop is open daily except for Wednesdays, so my team and I are kept busy! I think the Hall has a fantastic atmosphere and those who work here genuinely take pride in where they work. Constantly striving for excellence takes great teamwork and I'm glad to be part of that team.
Paul
Housekeeping Assistant
I've been here for 10 years now and I love the job! I like to see everything in place and it's great that people notice how good it looks when you've buffed the floor to get it really clean. I may even have to ask the occasional star I see to keep off my floor when I'm polishing it!
The Housekeeping team really works well as a unit and we enjoy each other's company. I'll talk with all my Hall colleagues though, I'm known as 'PP' to many people here. The Hall is a friendly place with a good atmosphere – I've worked here longer than anywhere else.
In Housekeeping we look after both old and new areas of the Hall so it's important that we're trained to use all the different equipment and chemicals and take pride in our work. We do a lot of sweeping, mopping, buffing, vacuuming carpets, scrubbing and stripping floors; I prefer deep cleaning carpets. I do feel that my work is recognised and contributes; in fact everyone wants the Hall to look good!
